So we have have lived in Kentucky for 5 1/2 months, and I have come to a few conclusions about the state- or at least the general area in which we live…
People drive 5 MPH under the speed limit at all times. God forbid it rains, snows, or gets windy they freak completely and stock up on can goods, batteries and all the needed “storm” supplies. Then on the said day of the “storm- or bad weather” they don’t leave their homes. Its bizarre. Oh and only about 1/5 of the roads are lit so its like driving on a constant back road.
The allergies SUCK here. Its like being constantly sick, literally. We always have a runny nose, itchy eyes and a cough. Who wants to live like this? really! Oh and apparently the rule is once you move here you must lose a tooth. So far 3 out of my 5 have had major dental work or had a tooth pulled. All within 5 months. Which would explain why there are urgent dental clinics around every corner.
Get to gethers- They always have the one 50 year old drunk man. The cops are called or threatened to be called. The over all, “quality” of the people in said get together is funny beyond words. Not saying that they aren’t nice- Its like being in what’s called “Sin City” back in Jacksonville. It’s like the area that all good people avoided.
The school system here is absolute SHIT. They bus the kids 3 hours a day, through 2 buses to a school in the middle of the ghetto down town. It’s in such an area with bad poverty that every friday they send food home with the kids. This is a topic I could write about ALL day however I will spare you until another blog post.
On the plus side- the majority of the people are incredibly nice, regardless of how slow they might be. Just a few more years here and we can move onto bigger and better things 😀
I’ll post soon on the positives of Kentucky.
